PANORAMA MONFERRATO
a city-wide exhibition
by CARLO FALCIANI
4 - 8 September 2024
We are thrilled to participate in the new edition of PANORAMA, the special account that ITALICS periodically dedicates to some of the most extraordinary locations in the Italian landscape.
There are over 60 artists protagonists of the fourth edition of Panorama: from great names who have made the history of international art to established and young emerging artists from Italy and abroad, with works ranging from painting to performance, from sculpture to video-art installation, alongside great masterpieces of ancient art.
The exhibition curated by Carlo Falciani is inspired by the principles of La civil conversation - a work written by Stefano Guazzo (born in Casale Monferrato in 1530) and published in 1574 - and is divided between vineyards, castles and parish churches, like a journey in stages through the villages of Camagna , Vignale , Montemagno and Castagnole , building an original story that brings together ancient, modern and contemporary, discovering, once again, an extraordinary corner of Italy.
Panorama Monferrato is a journey to be taken slowly , a metaphor for the path of meditation. Just as Guazzo, through the characters of his story, demonstrated how a community could live only if capable of building a civil conversation, resolving conflicts through dialogue, the center of the ethical development of man and society, so the contemporary visitor of Panorama undertakes a journey of reflection starting from daily contrasts to reach a level of spirituality, even secular, favored by art.
Like chapters of a single story, in each country, through the works of the artists involved, a theme transversal to the eras is articulated, useful for completing the journey.
Panorama is a cultural and artistic project conceived and promoted by ITALICS with a view to collaboration with the territories involved, a symbol of a commitment that intends to progressively expand in a program and in a network of alliances that reaffirm the centrality and role of art galleries art in a constantly evolving cultural system, local and global.
